Burak Delier, Ieva Epnere, Runo Lagomarsino – And That Song Is Our Amulet

Organised in cooperation with the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program, and curated by Melanie Roumiguière and Malte Roloff as part of the exhibition program SoS (Soft Solidarity), conceived by Nataša Ilić and Solvej Helweg Ovesen.

The group show And That Song Is Our Amulet showcases the work of three guests of the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program: Burak Delier (*1977, Turkey), Ieva Epnere (*1977, Latvia) und Runo Lagomarsino (*1977, Sweden). This presentation explores the power of art and poetry to resist prevailing political, religious and economic systems. The title is borrowed from Roberto Bolan͂o’s novel “Amulet” (1998), in which the power of artistic creation, as well as that of memory and imagination is invoked. This energetic force confronts and resists reality, undeterred by the challenges and inequalities that life can present. Resistance can be understood in this sense as an observational, lyrical act driven by conviction and vigour, but also by circumspection and assurance.
