Muda Mathis, Sus Zwick
Press release
The exhibition centers on the act of bricolage and thoughtless observation between contemplation and distraction. The works highlight companionship and the seemingly unequal in the same, showcasing unusual moments in the otherwise ordinary daily life. The immediate and humorous perspective of the artist duo on themselves, their surroundings, and everyday objects not only creates a vibrant aesthetic but also questions the potentials and mechanisms of communal action. Mathis/Zwick present their video work: 'VAGE ELEMENTE', which takes us on a rollercoaster of images that seem disparate and heterogeneous at first glance. Studio recordings follow everyday scenes from the artists' image archive, alternating between calm and fast sequences. The images serve as starting points for thought games and associations. When does the dramaturgy of our actions begin, and when does staging end? The audio accompaniment is a broad patchwork of music pieces, conversations, and soundscapes.
