Whether you're springing forward or falling back, there's no denying the transformation is already well underway. To celebrate new beginnings, we've teamed up again with our city guide-bae LOST iN to bring you a selection of the art shows worth your time and the drinks and eating worth your cultured-up dime.
VIENNA
"On the New" at Belvedere 21
If you want to know what's new and buzzing, check out "On the New. Young Scenes in Vienna" for a stroll through the contemporary art community of Austria. This show changes over time as it features rotating displays of independent art spaces.
Disco Volante
This is no ordinary pizza joint—though the massive sparkling disco ball oven might tip you off to that. Frequented by Vienna's cool cats, this place (whose name is a nod to a certain James Bond villain) is a solid lunch option and an even better way to kick off a night with some spice.
LOS ANGELES
Tschabalala Self at Hammer Museum, Los Angeles
In the project "Bodega Run", Tschabalala Self examines cultural attitudes toward race and gender, using the microcosm of the convenience store as a basis for exploration. This colourful show is on view at Hammer Museum in Los Angeles.
Night + Market Song
Thai food like you've never seen it. The menu strays from the traditional, with crowd favourites like the Chiengrai-style fried chicken and papaya slaw sandwich. Chef Kris Yenbamroong is heavy-handed with the roast chillies and spices, which he lugs back from the Thai-Burma border. Book ahead if you can!
MIAMI
Judy Chicago at ICA, Miami
The ICA Miami presents a survey of works by pioneering feminist artist Judy Chicago. Her practice ranges from abstraction to figuration and incorporates (and problematizes) traditionally gendered skills like embroidery or pyrotechnics.
Broken Shaker
Credited with changing Miami's entire mixology scene, this lovingly-designed Tiki bar is the place to go for some Caribbean relaxation. Here, it comes in the form of their own special punch, mole mezcal cocktails and easy, breezy seating in the shade.
